2011.07.29 {More fun in Indiana}

Today, the kids went on a visit to the zoo with Grandma Peterson and the girls.  They had a fun day of animals, riding a roller coaster, watching the dolphin show, and even petting sharks.  Grandma said Trace's favorite of the day was the Sharks - they had to go back and see them 3 times.  I just hope they don't come home asking for a pet shark!

2011.07.25 {Indiana Fun}

Trista & Trace are in Indiana for 2 weeks visiting all of their cousins and having a great time already.  Since Friday, they have already:
  • played at Auntie Kay's house with Landon and met their new cousin Kendal
  • swam in the rain filled ditch at G & G Myers house
  • celebrated Mitchell's 3rd birthday with swimming and finding the buried treasure
  • spent time at the lake with Kade, Kamden, & Kaia - tubing, skiing, swimming, and even jumping off the top of the deck:  (my kiddos have no fear)

As documented by Grandma:
"Kari and Ryan, just so you believe what they tell you tonight.....we have it on film.....and Trista loved it and went over and over...Trace did it 2 times but then he was a little timid....but he will probably go again tomorrow....after supper we are going to ski...everyone tubed today... talk to you later on the computer. love mom"

2011.07.17 {Trista's Haircut}

Trista has been growing her hair out for quite some time and has NOT wanted to get it cut or even get a trim.  I finally convinced her she could get it cut and donate it at the LPGA tour event - unfortunately, you have to be 7 to participate.  Since finding out she was too young, I have been trying to convince her to get it cut - it was time - it was frizzy, hot, and the only style we could both agree on was a ponytail she wore everyday.   I was really excited when she said she wanted to get her hair cut just like her friend, Emma, but she still wanted to be able to donate it.  So, 10 inches later, she looks adorable and we both luv it!  I am so proud of her for understanding what it means to give to someone in need and that she was excited to do it.  And yes, you may spy a little pink feather in her hair - so she can be just like Emma!

Before & After:
Here we go:

2011.07.15 {Trey - 5 months}

My baby is 5 months old already.

The many faces of Trey!

I love that I caught this sneeze in action!
THE THINGS I DON'T WANT TO FORGET:
  1. you are chewing on everthing - your fingers, toys, my shoulder - seems you may be teething already
  2. you like to be held upright looking over my shoulder
  3. how soft your hands are as you hold on to my arm when we snuggle close - your cheek is pressed to mine and we rock gently and hum "Take me out to the Ballgame"
  4. your crazy hair - it is longer now than we will ever allow it to be again.  You have a mullet down the center of your head with long pieces around your ears.  I am constantly sweeping it out of your eyes and patting down the back.  I hesitate to give you a haircut because I am afraid you will look too grownup - I'm not ready to let go of my baby boy.
  5. you are strong! - You love to practice standing up on my lap and in your exersaucer.  You are starting to master the art of sitting up on your own - it won't be long.
  6. your babbling sounds - "ba" & "ma" and the way you "pop" your lips.
  7. the way you giggle when we tickle your neck, thighs, and sides - you are a ticklicious boy!
  8. Daddy thinks you like your feet rubbed like your sis, but Mommy doesn't seem to know the trick.
  9. you started eating rice cereal - not sure what to think about it yet.
  10. you are finally sleeping in your own room, but Mommy sleeps in the spare bed in your room so she doesn't have to go up and down the stairs since you decided to wake up during the night for the past few weeks.
Most importanly, I don't want to forget how much I love you - just as you are - in these precious moments.  I cherish the times I get to hold you, cuddle you, make you giggle, comfort you, and play with you.  I want to remember how fulfilling it feels being your mom - being needed and loved by such a precious little boy.

2011.07.15 {Visit from a Butterfly}

The flowers in my patio pots have been attracting some gorgeous butterflies this year - here is one I was able to capture on camera.

2011.07.07 {Trista's Legos}

Legos have been on Trista's wish list for awhile (since her bff Adrian is a Lego pro), so we suprised her with her 1st official Lego set on the last day of Kindergarten as a celebration for a job well done this year.  She was very excited to get started.  I was impressed that she did not want any help - she did the entire project herself - carefully follwing the instructions.  The best part about the set, is that it makes 3 different houses, so once the pictures were taken, she took it apart and is starting the second round.
