Spring...please stay!

Today was 60 degrees and a beautiful day. The kids & I loaded up their bikes and spent the afternoon at the park. We first rode the bikes around the pond on the 1.8 mile track. Of course, Trace only operates in 1 mode - FULL SPEED - so I had to jog to keep up with the 2 of them on their bikes. Trista knows to turn around and wait until I catch up - but today I made her speed up to Trace and tell him to stop (over & over). We need to work on braking - when Trace is told to stop, he stops pedaling, but continues to coast - which proved disasterous at the bottom of a hill today. Thankfully, the 3 ladies approaching our direction saw me chasing after Trace and stepped off the side of the trail, while Trace sped past and then pulled his bike into the leaves and tipped right over the top of the handlebars. It didn't phase him. He jumped up, dusted off his hands, and said "Shake off, mommy" (which is what I tell him when he falls "Shake it off Trace").

Trista instantly made friends on the playground after the bike ride. She was climbing all over the equipment and swinging on the bars like at gymnastics. And although I am not usually a fan of sand playgrounds, it felt great to kick off our shoes & socks and run around barefoot for an hour.

We would love to do this every week on our days off!
